Our role in disseminating doctor billing information to the public
Our aim with My Dr Bill is to gather and share with the public information about the out of pocket costs for medical procedures in Australia. While we are not a member of the Australian Press Council, we undertake to observe their Statement of Privacy Principles in our collection and dissemination of information about doctors’ fees.
Collection of personal information
We may collect personal information such as your name, contact details and information about your dealings with us, including from any contact we have with you by telephone, online and other electronic communications.
If you choose to submit information about your doctor costs we may ask for the procedure and year, the doctor types and their costs, the main doctor’s postcode and any other information you wish to add.
If you are a doctor, we may collect information about you from your patients who choose to submit this information to us.
Why we collect personal information
We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information to operate My Dr Bill and comply with our legal obligations. This includes providing and improving our services, maintaining and updating our records, protecting our lawful interests, facilitating acquisitions and potential acquisitions of our business and communicating with our information submitters.
We may not be able to do these things without your personal information. For example, we may not be able to communicate with you.
Sharing of personal information
We will not share your personal data with any third party other than our service providers. These service providers include providers of data processing, data analysis, research, website and technology services who are necessarily involved in managing this site.
